      Thanks. What about long filenames (or for that matter, short filenames but long directory structure)? Am I missing something or is there simply a limitation on number of characters allowed in the path?

      Hello folks
      
      I know that many people want CTFMON.EXE to stop working, but I want it to run. Everytime my computer starts, CTFMON is executed automaticaly (in the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run), but it stops right away. So, it's affecting my keyboard switching capability (between french and english). The keyboard do still switch if I press ALT-SHIFT, but the icon in the lower right still shows "EN" (if I switch to french, english is my main keyboard). So, except by trying to /type a french letter, I can't see which keyboard I am using
      
      I remember that it was working great after my new reinstallation of Windows XP SP1a, and it even worked for a while. It stoped working after I went in Outlook Express to configure my emails (maybe it's not related, but I still want to tell when it stoped working)
      
      So, now, how do I do to make CTFMON.EXE fully operational again? I've seen on the MS KB that by registering MSCTF.DLL and MSIMTF.DLL, it would solve the problem. Oh yes, it worked... only for a while. Now, when I register MSCTF.DLL, I see CTFMON.EXE load in the Process Tab of the Task Manager, but it dissapears as fast as it appeared. The "Alternative User Input" in my Office XP is installed
      
      Is a patch making CTFMON unreliable? I want it running
      
      I need help on this one

When you do a File - Export, choose the different file type in the Save
As dialogs drop down, so as to get ASCII not unicode

Sorry it did not work out. Might show up on doing an export of the
entire HKCU key - big but not beyond FC's abilities

      RegScrubxP v3.25
      
      The RegScrubXP is no longer supported by the writer but you can still

    - please help!!!! my monitor is blank when it should be showing the windows desktop
      i tried to change the resolution on my monitor and when asked me to restart i accepted it. When restarted, it showed the windows xp home office screen, and then the windows desktop does not come on, but it sound like it is starting , but i don't see anything. I tried to start in safe mode and it gave me a list that said something like
      drive(0) hdrive(0) intertition(10) /system 32/and something els
      but every line said something diferent. How can i start the computer without erasing all the info i have saved in there?

    - Xp W2k3 Domain name change
      Hello,
      I currently have an AD 2003 test network setup in interim
      mode with an NT4 domain name of hdom and a 2003 domain
      name of selectors.com.au the test network was built by
      removing a NT4 bdc from the production network and
      upgrading it to 2003 AD. When ever I take an XP Pro
      workstation from the production NT4 network and logon to
      the test 2003 network it changes it's domain name from
      hdom to selectors.com.au on the XP client computer ID
      tab under properties of My Computer. When this client PC
      is then switched back to the production network I get the
      following event log errors and fails to log on to the NT4
      domain. Can anybody tell me how to stop the domain name
      being changed when the XP client logs onto the 2003 AD
      network. The reason is if I perform an AD upgrade on the
      production network but then need to roll back I will need
      to remove all the clients from the domain that have
      logged onto the 2003 DC and then readd them back onto the
      domain.

      As i am the network administrator and have no idea what to do , could someone help me in sorting this problem out.

    - downloading software from net
      hi , im having problems with flash macromedia. It just wont download. I have had problems with infected files which has now been resolved through use of spybot and adaware. Could a worm or trojan be the reason icant download flash.

    - Backup timestamp is wrong (using nero burner program)
      I just burned a backup.
      OS is windows XP and software is NERO burner program (ver 5).
      
      As this was the first time I would test if the backup was all-right so
      I compared all the files and data(files) upon the backup to the files
      on the catalog (harddisk) 5 minutes after the backup was burned.
      
      To my astonishment alle the timestamps are wrong- they are excatly
      one hour later than the files from the HD.
      
      So when I tried to synchronize files I was told that 2.8 GB files
      was about to be copied from the backup to the harddrive.
      
      This is not was I expected.
      I know that easy creator did have this error (that was the most
      important reason to use NERO) but I did not suspect NERO to have the
      same error.
      can anyone help?
