    - SFC /scannow keeps prompting me for the Win Xp cd rom
      I've been trying to do the SFC /scannow & it keeps prompting
      me for the Win Xp cd rom. When i insert the Xp cd rom it keeps prompting
      me for the original Win Xp cd ( which is the original). And sometimes I get
      You have Inserted the wrong CD !
      I copied the i386 folder from the XP cd and saved it on
      C:\Document and settings\Unique\i38
      
      My question is: Is it ok to Point it to C:\Document and settings\Unique\i38
      instead of CD ROM ( because I think I have problem with that) and if so
      HOW CAN I Point it to C:\Document and settings\Unique\i386
      
      any help pleae so i could finish the Scan ?

    - Cant view source of any site.
      When i open up a website under IE and then i go to view source nothing
      happens. Dont understand what could of caused this not to work. I have all
      of the lastest patches and service packs installed. Any suggestions on how

    - CMD problem ?
      Hi,
      I have a problem , a few weeks ago I tried something I
      saw in a mag ,
      I opened the cmd prompt and gave the commands :
      scannow /sfc ,
      It then started to scan my system then told me that
      certain files needed to be copied and to insert
      my "windows XP proffesional CD SP2" , fair enough but I
      have "Windows XP Home SP1" installed ?
      
      The main problem is that yesterday I tried it and it
      tells me that the command is unrecognised so I typed in
      HELP and it gave a list of commands and SCANNOW isnt
      there ?
      
      I have also read in a mag that the command TASKLIST will
      bring up a list of tasks that are running , but this
      command isnt there either ?
      
      I have recently installed and ran a program
      called "XPLite" , does anyone know if this can disable
      these commands because it can switch off the file
      protection system so I dont know what else it can do ?

Cannot apply criticle updates

Cannot download MS XP update from the microsoft web site.
Getting message that my ActiveX settings are too high.
Changed security settings in internet explorer to default,
but still having the same problem. Any suggestions??

      If you installed it in the usual way as a dual boot, putting the XP in a
      separate partition, the initial boot is to the partition where the Win98
      is (C:) and it is vital that you do NOT, as suggested delete that whole
      partition. From the XP boot delete just the Windows 98 folder -
      C:\Windows - (the XP probably being D:\Windows) and make sure, if you
      delete other folders that you keep the boot files in the root of C:\,
      ntldr ntdetect.com and boot.ini, but delete C:\Bootsect.dos
      
      Now run msconfig.exe and on the Boot.ini page click 'Check all paths -
      it will find that the one to boot Win98 no longer exists and allow you
      to delete it.
      
      Note that it is *not* practical to change the XP partition to C: unless
      you start over with a clean install of it. Keep the C drive for data

      One point that makes it easier. When you get to the point where it
      offers a whole slew of things to select and check, *right* click any
      one, and use 'Select All' Then Next and it will remove them all

    - Lost files after XP installation
      I recently installed XP over Windows 98 and all of the
      names from my Outlook Express Address Book were wiped out
      along with all the E-mails that existed prior to
      installation. I don't think they're completely gone, but
      I don't know where to look to recover them. Does any one
      out there know how I can recover my files?
