window size not maintained on explorer Anyone know how to make XP remember the size of a window when you close it
and open it again later, even after a reboot. I know how to size it by
stretching it but after a few openongs it reverts back to it's default size.
I even click status bar in the tool bar menu and it goes away after the
explore goes back to it's default. I just don't get it. It was ok before,
now this.
detail.
the driver isnt 'exactly' the right one for xp but it works & they dont make
the printer or newer driver.
i have tried installing/uninstalling & the same problem happens.
the printer announces itself as 'new equipment' found everytime i boot.
which is irksome, but...
recently i installed an application that seems to have problems with the
installer and i think it is because the system sees something new but could
be wrong on that.
anyhow, everytime i boot, this app wants to 'install' again. so i have to
push the cancel install a bunch of time to kill it.
is there some way to 'block' this autodetection that is going on that
continually wants to install the app even tho it has been. (a couple times)
is there some way to tell winxp to forget about telling me of this 'new'
printer which has been there for years.

To format xp:
*Warning - you will lose all data*
Boot to the xp cd and follow the on-screen instructions. The cd is bootable
and has all the tools to format and install.
Or,
Boot to a win9x floppy boot disk, run Fdisk, delete partitions, create new
partitions, reboot to boot disk again, run format, (or reboot to xp cd,
format, install xp). Get boot disk here: www.bootdisk.com

Window versus Full-screen Processing I have a xxx.exe program (compiled qbasic) that doesn't
run in a window but does run in full-screen. The program
sends information to a bar code printer through a serial
port. The program is launched from a xxx.bat file and
appears to be running in a window. Is there a workaround
for this?
