    - XP problem logging into NT network
      I am administering a NT4 network & just recently installed a new XPsp1 PC.
      Upon login, it takes over 2 minutes to actually log into the network.
      During this time, only a blank desktop & a curser is displayed. Also I get
      these two errors every time in the event viewer:

      I have other XPsp1 PCs on the network which do not have these problems.
      I've double-checked & all of the network settings are the same on the
      working PCs & the one with the problem. I have also followed KB289650 which
      did not help. I tried manually setting the DNS but this also did not help.
      The problem occurs regardless of what user I log in as.
      
      Any help would be appreciated.

      When I ping a PC on the netwokr the ping command to 192.168.0.5 give me a

      Ping statistics for "ascii character"
      Packets: sent=4, Received=0, Lost =4 (100% loss)
      
      Rather that
      
      Ping statistics for 192.168.0.5
      Packets: sent=4, Received=0, Lost =4 (100% loss)
      
      any Idea why ?

      Dear community,
      
      Could someone be so kind to explain me on how to recover from drive
      format ?
      
      It goes about a logical drive placed into the extended partition. The
      drive is not "mounted", that mean it is not yet visible in Windows
      Explorer. I can only access it through PowerQuest Partition Magic,
      that can also browse the drive.
      
      The drive is 29GB in total and 14MB are used in a system directory
      called "System Volume Information". Only one subdirectory appears
      "_recover...".
      
      Is it still possible to recover my mistake ? Is there any procedure to
      recover the drive safely ?

I installed a copy of xp successfully on drive c. Got access to my NFS
Drive. Copied by data from c to d and recovered the c drive using the
recovery cd.

Then verified the drive without errors.

      What you got is a pop up advertisement. They want you to buy something. No
      antivirus calls a virus a "parasite". Neither do the various anti adware
      programs, such as SpyBot and Ad-Aware! Be vigilant!

      I am using a collection company software package whihch i
      just recently found out used the Microsoft Access 97 as
      its database. This software has very limited reporting,
      sorting, etc features. Is Microsoft Access 97 a program
      that can purchased from Microsoft which would open the
      database file the softwere uses (it ends with
      extension "mbd"). And if so, would this program allow me
      to move around data and sort data etc like Excel does?

      A thing to try is to right click on it and use the Install option - some
      savers need registry or ini file entries that they make in this way

    - Unknown device Intel Anypoint Adapter
      I had to reformat and reinstall winXP. I am now trying to reinstall my
      usb 10mbpsIntel Anypoint adapter. When I boot up with it plugged in to
      a usb port, in device manager it does not list it anywhere. Under USB
      it is shown as an unknown device. When I try to update the driver and
      point it to where the file is with the xp anypoint drivers it says
      that it can't dind the necessary drivers. It all worked fine before my
      hard drive died and I had to do this reinstall. Although two years
      ago, it took and tier 2 or 3 intel tech support person about a half
      hour to help me thru the same problem. Unfortunately, Intel no longer
      provides any support for the Anypoint adapters.Please help !
